The Town of Boonton offers a parking permit to assist with parking in our historic downtown business district.  Below is more information including rules and costs.

Universal Permit - $195 (prorated after February 1st)

  • Valid in any parking space on any street regulated by a long-term parking meter or coin slot box in any town toll parking lot or on any public street.
  • No limit to the amount that can be purchased

Parking Permit Regulations

  • Permit Parking is permitted in municipal lots and at a designated LONG-TERM space available at meters offering 3 -12 hours OR long-term spots in parking lots controlled by coin box (except for the volunteer pass).
    • Long-term meters are located half way up the 100 blocks on streets that intersect with Main Street and in several public parking lots
    • A long-term meter allows for 3 hours of parking with $0.25 cents (a quarter) verses short-term meters where a $0.25 cents (a quarter) provides 30 minutes (with a 2 hour limit)
  • Parking Permits MUST be displayed from the rear-view mirror in order to be valid
  • Volunteer and Loading / Unloading passes MUST be placed in plain sight on the passenger-side dashboard
  • Nonprofits are limited to two volunteer passes per organization
  • Permits that have been lost or stolen may be replaced for a fixed charge of $25.00.  All lost permits MUST be reported to the Boonton Police Department to obtain a replacement.
