History of the Boonton Holmes Pubic Library

The Boonton Holmes Public Library’s historic building was willed to the people of Boonton by James Holmes for use as a public library. Our doors opened in 1894 and we have been proudly serving the Town of Boonton ever since. Over the years the library has shared our building with the Boonton Times Newspaper, Heavenly Temptations, and even the local chapter of the Free Masons. After acquiring rights to the entire building, the library underwent an complete renovation to expand and provide an even greater level of service.
